Meet the 2019 Staff and Lay Leaders
of First United Methodist Church in Mena, AR

  Pastor Ann Ferris was appointed to First United Methodist Church, Mena in July 2015.  Educated in Engineering and Mathematics in England, Pastor Ann came to the US in 1988 and became a US citizen in 1997.  She held several positions in education, computer science and technical sales before entering Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C in 1997.  She moved to Arkansas in 2004 and served congregations in Hot Springs Village, Little Rock and Corning before moving to Mena.  She and her husband James have six adult children and fifteen grandchildren between them. 

Hobbies: Quilting, knitting, taking care of her two rescued chihuahua/pug mixed breed dogs.

Favorite Scripture:  Romans 8: 38-39 - 'For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
  Sandy Wiggins, Church Office Manager, and her husband, Mark, moved to Mena in August 2008, where they made First United Methodist their church home.  On September 23, 2012, Sandy was hired as the Church Administrative Assistant.  Sandy served in the U. S. Army for almost two years and has a variety of work experience, including bookkeeping for a thrift shop, serving as a Customer Service Manager for Wal-Mart and being a teller in a credit union.  Sandy and husband Mark have four daughters and two granddaughters.

Favorite Scripture:  The 23rd Psalm from the King James Version of the Bible.

Favorite Bible Character:  Esther which is the story of a beautiful young Jewess who risked her life to serve God and to save her people.

Favorite Food:  Anything Mexican!

Hobbies:  Crochet, cross stitch, knitting and puzzles.  Sandy also fosters dogs from the Humane Society.
  Stephanie Tapley, Chancel Choir Director/Pianist - A native of Little Rock, Stephanie moved to Mena in the 1970's where she graduated from Mena High School.  She began playing piano at the age of eight.  Stephanie is Secretary of Student Affairs at UARM.  This is not the first time Stephanie has served FUMC.  She has played "revolving door" with FUMC for several years.  She returned to Mena and FUMC in 2005 and sang in the Chancel Choir until 2012.  Stephanie is now back in the pianist's seat and was also was appointed Choir Director in 2016.  Occasionally she shares her beautiful voice with the congregation in solos.  Stephanie has two children, a daughter and a son.
  Kay Mannon, Chancel Choir Organist, has been the organist for Mena First United Methodist Church since the 1980’s, and she considers playing the pipe organ a rare privilege.  Her musical talent and appreciation of music was first evidenced in her home church where she began playing the organ at age 14.  Kay retired several years ago after having been an English teacher and high school librarian.  She and her husband, also a retired teacher, have two daughters and two grandchildren.
